I am trying to find the ancestry of Margaret (Reed) Kerr b.1786 in Ireland based off the following clue:
“[Her] father was a linen merchant and shipper, as was his father before him {maybe from Inverness}. Her mother was Eleanor (could be Elen or Isador) Cumming, born in Dundee (the place might be wrong). Whose father a staunch Jacobite, was killed for his rightful King. Eleanor was sent to Ireland to be raised. It is said that Eleanor Cumming was the first commoner in the family."
The only Cumming/ Cumine of petty nobility that were Jacobites have been Cuming of Craigmiln and Cumine of Pitullie. I know George son William disappeared for awhile after Culloden. I wonder if this was to Ireland. I also know another son Robert went to America/Caribbean after Culloden. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
