...so I am trying to find a Reed married to a Cumming-Cummings in Ireland, whose daughter married a Kerr. Kind of like the Scottish-Irish version of a Smith married to Jones.
The only clues that I have is that family legend says my known ancestor Margaret Reed.
Father: William Reed of Inverness was a linen merchant and shipper, as was his father before him.
Mother: Elen Cummins (of Dundee?? I think this is a mistake). Whose father "a staunch Jacobite, was killed for his rightful King." Elen was sent to Ireland to be raised. It is said that Elen Cummings was the first commoner in the family.
...so, I am grabbing to the petty noble Jacobite who died in '45-'46. I found [[Cuming-116|Alexander Cuming of Craigmill]] and maybe a son of [[Cumine-13|George Cumine of Pitullie]]. If one of these Jacobites wives escaped to Ireland to raise her children after her husband died, then I could start to piece together the puzzle.
Please let me know if you know of any clues.
PS: I did a DNA check with a descendant of Alex Cuming half sister Anna Rose and found a match that dances on the possibility of error (6.1 & 6.2) if I click on prevent hard breaks then there is a 7.0 & 9.7cM matches (I haven't figured out what prevent hard breaks means)
