Note NI65222Some records call him Daniel B. Luce. He joined the Mormon church along with his parents in 1837, and about 1841 moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. He settled outside Nauvoo, on a farm in Sonora Township. His name appears on the membership records of the Mormon church between 1840 and 1848 (Newell). He appears on the 1842 tax list of Nauvoo, living in Township 6 North, Range 8 West (p. 212). 1

In 1860 one of his boarders was Nancy Abercrombie, mistress and later wife of Lewis Bidamon, second husband of Emma Hale Smith, widow of the Mormon prophet, Joseph Smith (Tippet; Census). Nancy's daughter Mary Abercrombie married Charles Luce, a cousin of Thomas (McCourt).
