Mary Helen Lockhart was born 16 Oct 1899 or 1903, in Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of John C. and Helen (Delaney) Lockhart. From 1899 to 1911, she was recorded as residing in Toronto Centre Sub-Districts 18-62, Ontario, Canada
In 1913, she joined her parents and older brother in New York City, where she became an actress. He brother, Gene, was also an actor and her father was a vocal teacher.
On 27 Apr 1924, Helen married comedic actor Arthur Havel, in Albany, New York. Following her marriage, under the name Helen Lockhart, she performed alongside her husband and brother-in-law in a long-running Vaudeville act called "Lover's Lane," billed as "a whirlwind of mirth, melody and frivolity." Helen was described as "a pretty young woman of real histrionic abilities." Later, the team also had a popular hit with Oh! Uncle![1] Helen's name seems to abruptly disappear from the theatrical pages of the newspapers in 1933, suggesting her retirement from the stage at about age 30.
