OBITUARY
Mrs. SARAH APPS
Mrs. Sarah Apps, wife of Mr. Richard Apps, died at her late residence Millers Forest, on Wednesday night, May 14th, 1930, after a long illness, which she bore with remarkable patience and fortitude
She was the eldest daughter of the late William and Mrs. King, and was born at Millers Forest 60 years ago, and had resided in the district all her life.
Being of a quiet reserved disposition Mrs. Apps took very little part in public matters, but she loved her home and family, also her church (the Methodist) where she was a good attendant, when her afflictions would allow. In early life she was organist and Sunday school worker for the little church in the district.
For the last 12 or 15 years she has practically been an invalid and during the past 5 years had been unable to leave her home at all, suffering frequently great pains and prostration, but with the loving care of her family especially Doris and Nurse (Mrs. Croker), she was spared to see her family all grow up, and some married and settled in life.
A sorrowing husband, 3 sons, 7 daughters, and ten grandchildren are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
The sons are Messrs. Eric E. Apps, Lindfield; Clive Wm., Auburn; Oliver Cecil, Manly.
The daughters are Mrs. R. Croker, Wallarobba; Mrs. G. Anderson, Bankstown; Mrs. E. Talbut, West Tamworth; Mrs. S. Rose, Maroubra; Misses Doris, Ethel, Olive, Mary and Stella Laurene, Millers Forest.
Also five brothers and two sister's— Messrs . G. King, Chatswood; A. J. King, Willoughby; C. King, East Maitland; W. H. King, Adamstown and Albert King, Orange.
Miss Alice (Nurse) King and Mrs. G. Apps, Hornsby.
The sympathy of all friends and neighbours is extended to Mr. Apps and family in their sad bereavement.
The funeral took place on Friday, May 16th, followed by a large cortege of relatives and sympathisers, interment being, made in the Methodist Cemetery, Morpeth. The Revd. A. T. Newton, Raymond Terrace, officiated at the house and graveside and delivered a very impressive address.
A large number of floral wreaths were laid upon the coffin and grave. The pall bearers were Eric and Clive Apps, sons; C. King, brother and Geo. Anderson, son-in-law. A number of letters and cards of condolence were received. [5]
