He was born at Miller's Forest 82 years ago, and was the fourth son of the late Mr. William King. Most of his early life was spent in that district, where he married Miss Annie Osborn, and settled on Scotch Creek, where all of his family were born.

The family were members and adherents of the Methodist Church in that locality and took an interest in its activities during their residence there.
About 35 years ago they left Miller's Forest to reside in Lochend, West Maitland, on a farm deceased purchased near the Showground. A very disastrous flood occurred in that locality in 1913, through the water breaking through Cummin's dam, Oakhampton, and came down the back of Maitland, They were out of their home for some weeks until the water got away.
Some years later he sold this property and retired to East Maitland, 25 or 30 years ago. His wife predeceased him 4 years ago.
There are 4 daughters and three sons living.
The daughters are Mrs. Peat, Wagga; Mrs Ray Markey, Merewether; Mrs. Les Guy, and Mrs. A Kirkwood, East Maitland.
The sons are Messrs. Roy King, East Maitland; Arthur King, Strathfield; Percy King, West Maitland. One son was killedon a motor bicycle 19 years ago.
There are also 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
His brothers and sisters living are; Messrs. George King, Miller's Forest; A. J. King, Willoughby; W. H. King, Adamstown and Albert King, Orange, the sisters are Nurse King, Manly and Mrs. G. E. Apps Hornsby.
The funeral left his son-in-law's residence on Tuesday afternoon for East Maitland Methodist Cemetery. The Rev. N. J. C. Southwell held a service at the house. At the graveside, Rev. Southwell and Rev. Walker, West Maitland each took part in the burial service. The Oddfellows' service was read by an officer at McCubben Branch, East Maitland.
A large number of relatives and friends followed the cortege to the cemetery. Very many wreaths were laid on the grave. The families were all present, together with two of his brothers, (George and W. H. King). [5]
