Biography

Benjamin was born about 1704 to parents Ephraim Joy and Sarah (Nock) Joy. There is a book that suggests that Benjamin's presence in this family group (son of Ephraim and Sarah) is a conjecture but it's all we have at the moment. So that relationship will be considered tentative until proven one way or the other. Two of his children, Mary and Samuel, carry names of two his likely siblings.

He married Elizabeth Hovey about 1742, and they are listed as parents in the First Church of Christ in Biddeford, York, Maine's baptismal records for the following children:^[1]

There may be an error in the estimated date of marriage, as this couple is said to have also had Elizabeth, born 1738, and Benjamin, born 1741.
