Biography

According to Old Kittery and her Families^[1], Nathanial Joy, son of Ephraim Joy and Sarah Nock, was baptized 8 Jun 1723. It was observed elsewhere in different article^[2] that he was probably born in 1716. His brother Samuel was born in August of 1713, and his baptismal record says that he was the won of the widow Sarah Joy. There appears to exist a gap between Susanna and Thomas sufficient to expect to see another birth, although the dates already proposed for Ephraim's children suggest two sets of twins without identifying that those children were twins. Ergo, the whole list needs to be verified. But for now, we can surmise that Nathaniel may have been born about 1711.

He married Patience ____ (Hearl, as seen on an unsourced family tree on ancestry.com. If correct, she also married George Huntress (1734-1808), perhaps second) and had the following children:^[2]

1. Sarah, baptized Feb 1748/9
2. Margaret, baptized Sep 1748
3. Elizabeth, baptized May 1751
4. Patience, baptized Dec 1753

At first glance, the dates of the first two children look impossible, but it should be remembered that these are baptismal dates, not birth dates. If more can be found, we may get some clarity, but for now, we are aware.
