Hiram Lucas (aka Hyram E.) Grant was born in Saratoga County about 1827. He was the son of Thomas Grant and Julia Unknown.

Hiram first appears by name in the 1850 U.S. Census. At that time, Hiram (age 23), is working as Boatman and living in the household of his father Thomas with his mother and brother in Malta, Saratoga County, New York.^[1]

In the 1855, N.Y. Census, Hiram (listed as Hyram E.) (age 28) is working as a Boatman living in the household of his father Thomas Grant, his mother and brother in Milton, Saratoga County, New York.^[2]

Hiram's date and place of death are unknown at this time.
