HISTORICAL SKETCHES OF BLUEHILL MAINE. page 69:[4] Twenty years later, about 1796, James and David Carter, Sons of James Carter, Sr., went from their father's home on Blue Hill neck to the [Long] Island, and settled near what is now known as the Sand, or Carter's Point, where they and their families continued to reside, and where James and David and their wives died and were buried. They each had large families, which was the rule in those days. James Carter, Jr., was born at Damariscotta, Me., Oct. 31, 1764, came to Blue Hill with his father's family in 1770 at the age of six years. He married, first, Hannah Bartlett, March 8, 1792. She died leaving one child, and he married, second, Mercy Cain, of Sedgwick, born Nov. 10, 1773, by whom there were twelve children. He died Nov. 4, 1834, aged seventy, and Mercy his widow, a number of years later.

ii. John, born Jan. 11, 1796; died Sept. 33,1796.
iii. Charlotte, born July 27, 1797; William Romer Jan 8, 1821 at Blue Hill, Hancock, Maine; d. 1878.
iv John Pearce, Apr 26, 1799 at Long Island Blue Hill Bay, Hancock, Maine; m. Joanna Carter, daughter of David Carter and Abigail Cane, Mar 13, 1820; m. Clarrissa Gray, daughter of Benjamin Gray and Susanna Hutchinson, Mar 13, 1869; d. Jul 14, 1889 at age 90; he was buried at Carter Point Cemetery, Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine.
v. judith, born March 16, 1801; married John Trundy.
vi. Charity, born March 16, 1808; Mar 16, 1803 at Blue Hill, Hancock, Maine; m. Isaac Knapp Conary, son of Thomas Conary and Olive Staples, Mar 20, 1822 at Blue Hill, Hancock, Maine; m. John Reidhead, son of David Reidhead and Esther Banks, Sep 1, 1840; d. Mar 26, 1883 at age 80
vii. Amos, born Jane 3 , 1805 ; married Martha Choate.
viii. Pamella, born March 13, 1808; married Joshua A. Conary, son of Thomas Conary and Olive Staples, Aug 27, 1825 at Blue Hill, Hancock, Maine; d. Aug 22, 1868 at Tisbury, Dukes, Massachusetts, at age 60.
ix. Mercy, borm March 1, 1810; married Captain William Conary, son of Thomas Conary Jr. and Polly Sellers, Dec 25, 1833 at Hancock, Maine; d. Jul 8, 1876 at Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine, at age 66; she was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine.
x. Moses, born April 25, 1812; married Martha Choate
xi. Irene, born April 11, 1816; died July 3, 1816.
xii. James, born Oct. 24, 1817; married Isabella Smith d. Feb 9, 1893 at Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine, at age 75.
