NSSAR Ancestor #: 101447
Rank: N/A

Son of Deacon John Adams (1684 – 1754) and Elizabeth Goddard (1679 – 1767). He married three times. He had a total of thirteen children with Prudence Pratt and two with Elizabeth Grout per Author, Helen S. Ullmann, CG in Our Adams Line through Henry Adams of Braintree

The following biographical information is from The History of Dublin, 1920:[1]

"Joseph Adams, from Framingham, Mass., m. Prudence Pratt; lived first in Nova Scotia, for a short time, then came to Dublin, the year not ascertained. He lived first on lot 8, range 5, in a house not standing; then in a house on the southern edge of lot 12, range 9, where he died, date not discovered. By his former wife, he had five sons and eight daughters, and by the 2d wife., Widow Dorcas Winship, two daughters." There are fourteen children listed, most without birth dates.

While the above quoted source says he died in Dublin, New Hampshire, the Henry Adams Genealogy claims he went to Maine after residing in Dublin.[2] His son, Elisha Adams, was living in Bethel, Maine in 1800,[3] and shortly thereafter moved to Temple, Maine.

Birth

12 Aug 1723, Framingham, MA, Joseph Adams son to John and Elisabeth Adams[4]

Research Notes

There was a Joseph Adams, "wall layer", living in Thomaston, Maine in 1811.[5] He conveyed land to Josiah Twitchell in 1807. Joseph Adams had a grandson named Josiah Twitchell, who happened to live in Maine. McCann-752 17:02, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

The FindAGrave entry for Joseph Adams, which lacks a photo or plot information, cites the "Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots" collection on Ancestry. The record for Joseph Adams only has his name and the burial location - no dates. It's very doubtful this is the same Joseph Adams. DAR has listed a Joseph Adams of Newton, NH, who was born in 1707 and died in 1799, and married Mercy Fowle. I have removed the FindAGrave entry until proof can be provided that this is the same individual. I have also contacted the manager of the FindAGrave memorial.
