Private Elisha Adams served with 1st New Hampshire Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Elisha Adams is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A000472.

Elisha was born in 1765, in Framingham, Massachusetts. He was the son of Joseph Adams and Prudence Pratt, who later settled in Dublin, New Hampshire.[1]

Elisha married Comfort Twitchell on September 22, 1782.[1] They had the following children (all born in Dublin, New Hampshire):[2][3]

  • Hannah, b. Aug 22 1783; married ______ Joslin of Jaffrey, N. H.
  • Timothy, b. May 8 1785; d. May 8 1786
  • Eunice E., b. May 20 1787
  • Polly, b. Feb 23 1789, married ______ Joslin, who had earlier married her sister, Hannah

It is said that his first wife, Comfort, "became insane".[3]

He removed to Temple, Maine, in about 1801. In about the same year (judging from children's birthdates), he married Lucinda Addley. They had several children (all born in Temple, Maine):[2]

  • Nancy S,, b. June 4 1807, d. Jan 13 1826
  • Mary (Polly), b. Aug 26 1809, d. Oct 6 1826
  • Dorcas, b. Apr 11 1812; married C. Jones Blanchard
  • John, b. May 9 1814; m. Electa Elmer; resided in Holden, Mass.
  • Silas, b. Mar 2 1817; a farmer in Westport, Mo.; m. Josephine Sawyer
  • Sarah W., b. Apr 23 1823, d. Dec 13 1823

Elisha died on March 31, 1827. He is buried in Red Schoolhouse Cemetery in Franklin county, Maine.[4]
