In the name of God Amen. I Samuel Abell Sr. of Washington County and State of Kentucky being in good health and perfect sound mind memory and understanding thanks be to God for it knowing the uncertainty of life thus and that it is ordained for all the persons to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament. This is to say, first of all I bequeath my soul to Almighty God that gave it to me and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in a Christian manner. As my executors that shall hereafter named shall think fit, and as for what worldly goods God has blessed me with in this life I give and dispose of same in the following manner, Viz.
Item I give and bequeath to my son Edmd. Abell one negro man named Ralph, one negro woman named Lydia, one negro boy named George, one negro girl named Henrietta and one negro girl named Ann which of foresaid negroes he has in his possession them an their increase, to him and his heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath to my son Barton Abell one negro man named James and one negro boy named Joseph and thirty pounds currant money of Virginia to him and his heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Fenwick the use of one negro girl named Aleice during her natural life and after her decease I give unto my two grand sons John Thomas and Benet Thomas the above named girl named Alice, and her increase if any. To be equally divided between them an their heirs forever.
Item where as I here to fore given my son Peter Abell proportional part of my estate I give unto his heirs his nine shillings sterling to be equally divided between them and no more of my estate.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Ignatius Abell one negro boy named Paul, two cows, and calves, two ewes and lambs, and one sow and pig and twenty pounds current money of Virginia. To him and his heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Ann Bowes twenty pounds sterling current money of Virginia to her and her heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Henrietta Thompson one negro man named Richard, two cows and calves, two ewes and lambs and one sow and pigs for her and her heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Herd's children one negro man named Henry, two cows and calves, two ewes and lambs and one sow and pig to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath unto my grand son Joseph Abell one negro girl named Rachel and her increase, two cows and calves, two ewes and lambs and one sow and pigs. One bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Joshua Abell the residue of my estate to him and his heirs forever. Last of all I appoint my son Joshua Abell my whole and soul executor of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all other will for wills by me made but declare this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal the year and day aforesaid.
Signed sealed and published and declared by the said Samuel Abell, Sr. to be his last will and testament in the prescence of us the subscribers, and we in the prescense of each other sign our names as witnesses hereto.
