Can’t merge trees

Probably don’t know what I’m doing but I’ve tried to merge my newly created wikitree with another but...nada.

I’m a regular & frequent donator to Wiki so familiar with my usual digging, but ran against a wall here.

Also can’t upload my test kit DNA data from FTDNA-Y results.

The last issue is the biggest since I can’t go too far without knowing or sharing that info.

Thanks,

Anthony Barreto-Neto

Hi, Anthony!

I edited out your email address from your post. If someone would like to message you privately, they can go to your profile and use the Private Message link. That way, you'll avoid having "spam bots" pick up your email from this post. :-)

I also added a few tags that will help find more people who can help you with your question.
Anthony,  Your profile indicates that you are still a guest.  I believe in order to enter your DNA test information you would need to upgrade to at least Family Member status.

Hi Anthony,

As suggested by others, your best move is to upgrade to family member. This is free and will allow you to start adding your family members to our shared tree. Since we have one global tree, you do not need to merge any trees. The only time we merge is when two profiles are created for one individual.

After you have upgraded, your greeter will leave you more info but feel free to come back to the forum to ask more questions!

Anthony, when others commented that you are a guest and need to become a family member, they are alluding to the fact that (unlike other Wiki sites you may have contributed to) there are three levels of membership in WikiTree.  These are described at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Membership

You are still at the first level, known as Guest. Guests have only minimal editing privileges. If you follow the instructions to upgrade your membership level, you will have a more satisfying experience.

Also, in WikiTree "merging" is the specific procedure for making a single profile out of duplicated profiles.

What you want to do, in WikiTRee terminology, is to "connect" to your ancestor. I am sure your Greeter can explain how to do that, once you have upgraded.

Hi Anthony, welcome to WikiTree & G2G! It's great to have you join us. WikiTree is a wonderful place to be, and should come with a warning "can be addictive". There is a bit of a learning curve starting out. I have left a message on your profile, please let me know if you have any questions.smiley
