Mary Whitecross was born on September 27, 1785, and baptised on October 2, 1785, in Tranent, Scotland. Her parents were James Whitecross of Cockenzie, and his wife Mary Crawfurd. The witnesses at her baptism were David Sim and Alexander Barber.[1]
On January 18, 1808 at Tranent, Scotland, Mary Whitecross of Tranent married William Hurrie, corporal of the Aberdeenshire militia.[2]

Mary Hurrie, born on January 14, 1809, and baptised on January 17, 1809 at Inveresk, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were Alexander Taylor and Alexander Hurrie.[3]
In the 1841 census, Mary Hurry (age 50) was enumerated on Wales Street in Aberdeen with her husband William Hurry (age 55, nail maker), and their children Alexander Hurry (age 20), Keith Hurry (age 15), George Hurry (age 15) and David Hurry (age 10).[4]
