Biography

William's birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1844 in the Sunderland Union district.[1] He was the son of John Turnbull and Ann (Robson) Turnbull. In the 1861 census William (age 17), Carpenter, was the son of John Turnbull in Sunderland, Durham, England.[2]

William (age 22) married his first cousin Martha Hume (age 24) on 10 December 1866 in Gateshead, Durham, England.[3]

William's marriage to Sarah Spencer was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1871 in the Sunderland district.[4]

In the 1881 census William (age 37), Mariner, was the married head of household on Thomas Street, Sunderland, Durham, England.[5]
