• Jane was born early in 1840 in Adelaide (in a tent as Adelaide at the time was still a tent city)^{[1] [2]} to Jane (nee Sinton) and James Telfer.
• Married William Mitchell on 1 August 1861 in Mount Gambier, South Australia.
• Had at least 5 children with William.
• Died in South Australia on 3 or 5 February (headstone may not be legible as records conflict) 1925, aged 85. Interred in plot 17 of section I 1S of Lakes Terrace Cemetery, Mount Gambier, South Australia.^[3]
