Biography

William was born in 1839. He was the son of William Spurdle and Sarah Sibley.

UK Census Date 1841: Living with his parents, three older siblings and two other individuals in East Street, Beaminster, Dorset, England. Aged 1.

William was 2 years old when he emigrated from England to New Zealand with his parents and three siblings, travelling on the ship Timandra. They departed from Plymouth on 2 November 1841, and arrived into New Plymouth, New Zealand on 24 February 1842.^[1]

He married Elizabeth Putt Gilbert in 1867. They went on to have about 12 children.

William passed away in 1891 at the age of about 52. His youngest child was only about 1 year old.
