Biography

Mary was born in 1836. She was the daughter of William Spurdle and Sarah Sibley.

Christening Place: Wesleyan Methodist, Bridport, Dorset, England^[1]

UK Census Date 1841: Living with her parents, three siblings and two other individuals in East Street, Beaminster, Dorset, England. Aged about 4.

Mary was 5 years old when she emigrated from England to New Zealand with her parents and three siblings, travelling on the ship Timandra. They departed from Plymouth on 2 November 1841, and arrived into New Plymouth, New Zealand on 24 February 1842.^[2]

She married Charles Sutton in 1853. They had at least 2 children; Elizabeth and Clement.

Sadly she passed away in 1864 at the age of 28.
