Biography

William Sinclair is a member of Clan Sinclair.

William was the son and heir of Sir Henry Sinclair of Rosyln and his wife, Alice Fenton.[1] He was granted a pension of £40 for agreeing to accompany Sir James Douglas to Palestine with the heart of Robert the Bruce, but fell in battle with the Saracens in Andalusia 25 August 1330.[2]

The name of this Wiliam Sinclair's wife is uncertain. He is believed to have had at least four children, but the name(s) of their mother(s) are not known:

  • Thomas Sinclair, bailie of Orkney; d. bef 1 Nov 1371[1]
  • John Sinclair, a witness in 1367[1]
