Biography

George McAdie is a member of Clan Fergusson.

George McAdie was born about 1809 to George McAdie and Janet Steven and was baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 16 November 1810.^[1]. He died in 1890. ^[2]

In 1841 George McAdie was farming at Myrelandhorn, Wick, Caithness with wife Catherine and assumed children George, Isabella, Janet and James.

In 1851 George McAdie was a farmer living in Bower, Caithness. He had a 60 acre farm that supported two labourers. George gave his address as "Kirk" in Bower and his place of birth as Watten. ^[3]

In 1861 George and Catherine are still in Kirk, Bower.^[4]

This George and Catherine living in Kirk, Bower in 1861 cannot be the parents of the Jane McAdie who married Alexander Bain as Jane's 1856 marriage certificate shows her parents as deceased.

NB there are two more or less contemporary George McAdie sons born about 1830/33 to parents named George and Catherine.

the George born 1830 to George McAdie ( - bef. 1841 and Catherine Sinclair ; He died in Thurso in 1896

the other born to George McAdie (abt.1809-1890) and Catherine Mullekin in 1833 who died in Wick in 1906.
