Rosina Jane Matters was born in 1861 in Geelong, in the colony of Victoria, Australia. She was the daughter of Joseph Matters and Elizabeth Baker. [1]
She married George Henry Martyn in 1884 in Victoria. [2]
Her husband was charged with deserting her on 6 June 1887 from their home at 124 Graham Street, Port Melbourne. On the warrant he was described as "English, photographer, 37 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches tall, slight build, fair complexion, brownish hair, brown beard, whiskers, and moustahce, full eyes. Supposed to be in the country with another travelling photographer." [3]
She married her second husband, Frank Victor Shearman, in 1890 in Victoria. [4]
She died in Sydney, New South Wales in 1902 and was buried on 8 November 1902 at Rookwood Cemetery. [5] [6]
