Margaret (Henderson) Lockhart was born in Ireland.

Margaret Henderson was born about 1806 (based on her age of 66 when she died in 1872) in County Armagh, Ireland^[1].

She married Thomas Lockhart in Ireland as his second wife. They had two children.

1. Ellen (1842 - ), married David Kerr
2. Thomas

The family migrated to the United States in 1846.

In 1850 she was living with her husband, Thomas (a farmer aged 45), and three children - James (a labourer aged 17), Robert (12) and Ellen (10) - at Chesterfield, Essex, New York^[2]. She was aged 40 and born in Ireland. Henry Lockhart (a farmer aged 36) and his family were living next door. They were at the same place in 1855^[3]. By 1860 her step-son James was not at home^[4]. In the household were Thomas (56) , Margaret (54), Robert (22) and Ellen (18).

Her husband Thomas died on 21 November 1860 aged 53 years^[5].

Margaret died on 13 August 1872. She was buried in Clintonville Old Cemetery, Clintonville, Clinton, New York^[6]. The inscription says:

Margaret Henderson Wife of Thomas Lockhart

Died Aug. 13, 1872 Aged 66 Years
