yDNA

FTDNA Discover time tree
yFull branch R-Y29908
yDNA confirmed as haplogroup R-BY19859 from BigY testing of three descendants, two descended from son William and one from son David.
Unfortunately they have no Henderson matches, and are a mismatch to the tested descendant of James' brother Archibald, who does have Henderson matches, whose families are from the Bridge of Allan and environs.
As at Mar 2023 it became highly likely that James' father was indeed a Jenkins, this from the arrival of a BigY match to a descendant of Peter Jenkins (marr. Jane McNee) assigned to the same haplogroup. This was not a surprise given autosomal matches across the extended families and the above mentioned yDNA mismatch between the Henderson descendants.
Exactly which Jenkins male is open to further investigation. Henderson-2297 10:15, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
