Flag of New Zealand

Born 11 Feb 1817 [1] Kippen Stirlingshire, Scotland [2]

Unconfirmed but would love to confirm date and parents! Henderson-2297 01:13, 6 May 2017 (EDT)

Possible baptism 20 Feb1815 Kippen, Par. of Clackmannan, STI, SCT [3]

IF this is the correct Amelia!
as there is an entry for the chr. of an Emilia Miller d/o John Miller and Margaret Miller. It is sometimes suggested that this couple, the John and Margaret Miller who married Jan 15 1814 in Kippen are the right parents for Amelia/Emilia, but this doesn't fit either the naming pattern of James and Amelia's children or Amelia's father on her dth cert or grddtr Millie's note that Amelia's mother was a Miss Chrystal

Died 29 Apr 1894 Island Cliff, nr Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand

cert #24 reads: 1894 29th April Island Cliff (probably residence of son John) Amelia Henderson aged 77, of old age, not certified, Father James Millar, (no mother shown on cert), Buried 2nd Mary 1894, Oamaru Cemetery Alexander B Todd, Pres. Golden Wedding

Having just uploaded Amelia HENDERSON nee MILLARs golden wedding photo and reminded myself of the newspaper report of the time
"They had 5 sons, 7 dtrs, all living, 58 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren"
Do we have all of these people identified and included on WikiTree?
Love to hear from you if you are descended from Amelia and can add to our knowledge of the family.
The 5 sons and 7 daughters by my current count:
1. Archibald Henderson - 10 children 4 died prior to 1886
2. Janet (Henderson) Barclay - 2 children - 1 deceased by 1886
3. Isabella (Henderson) Howden - 6 children - all living 1886
4. Agnes (Henderson) Dobson - 3 children - all living 1886
5. Margaret (Henderson) Smith - 9 children - 1 no longer living 1886
6. James Henderson - no known children
7. David Henderson - 8 children - 1 deceased
8. William Henderson - 8 children - all living 1886
9. Elizabeth (Henderson) Miller - 8 children - all living 1886
10. Amelia (Henderson) Phillips - 6 children - all living 1886
11. Mary (Henderson) Smith - 8 children - all living 1886
12. John Henderson - 5 children - all living 1886
Which makes 72 grandchildren, less 7 known to be deceased, so 65 compared to the 58 known to Amelia at the time.

Research notes

I ( Lorna) would love to hear from anyone researching MILLAR/MILLER or CHRYSTAL from Kippen and environs - particularly if they've DNA tested.
If a Miss Chrystal is Amelia's mother, a direct female line descendant of any candidate that hoves into view should be T2e and have a match to our mtDNA tested descendant of Amelia on FTDNA.
Please also check out the Amelia brickwall category page (scroll to bottom of this page for link) for families being researched as "of interest"
