William HALL was married on 26 November 1777 in Bedford County, Virginia to Urcilla WOODWARD.[5], [6]

Military Service

A Revolutionary War Widows pension was filed by Urcilla HALL, the widow of William HALL, which was executed on 24 September 1840.[11]

William HALL enlisted in Bedford County, Virginia in either Late 1778 or 1779 and served as a Sergeant and Sergeant - Major in Captain Thomas Pemberton's Company, Colonel Bland's Regiment of Light Dragoons. He served for three years and was discharged.
Captain Thomas PEMBERTON was listed in the Virginia Militia, 1st Dragoons. - (https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Virginia_in_the_Revolutionary_War : accessed 24 July 2017)
A Dragoon soldier usually meant they were part of a mounted infantry who were trained in horse riding as well as infantry fighting skills. Light Dragoon regiments were usually trained in reconnaissance, skirmishing and other work requiring endurance in accordance with contemporary standards of light cavalry performance.
In the statement included in the widow's pension for Urcilla HALL, the widow of William HALL, William's sister, Grace (HALL) FORQUERAN stated that she and Urcilla saved enough thread to make into linen to make her brother, William HALL, two suits of clothes to wear to the army."
Grace (HALL) FORQUERAN was the widow of Peter FORQUERAN / FORGUERAN who also served as a private in the Revolutionary War for three terms of service of 3 months a piece making a total of 9 months in service.[12]

Migration to Kentucky

William Hall and other members of his family, including his father- Leonard Hall, migrated to Kentucky before 1800. Peter FORQUERAN, the brother in law of William HALL, moved to Kentucky around 1799. William's father settled in Barren Co., ca. 1790, while William settled in Montgomery Co., where his name appeared on the Tax Roll in 1797. He was also listed as head of household in the 1810 Census of Montgomery Co., where he died the following year. It is presumed that he and Urcilla resided in the Red River area near Clay City, which was located in Powell Co. after 1852.

According to The Life and Times of Leonard Hall by Clay Conner, Jr., William's parents left MD for VA in 1751, shortly after they were married. It certainly seems that William must have been born in VA. I tried to write to David BEGIN about that, but WikiTree says his file is closed. I would think William's profile manager could removed the paragraph about BIRTH CONFLICT on this page.
The link to the pension seems to be behind a wall... this one is freely accessible:
