Leonard was born in Rockville, then Prince George's Co., MD.
On 15 Jan 1750 Leonard married Johanna Polleckfield Letton at Rock Creek Chapel Church in Prince George's Co., MD. (That church is now known as St. Paul's Church, Rock Creek Parish, at Rock Creek Parish Church Road and Webster Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.)
In about 1751, a year after their marriage, Leonard and Johanna left MD for Bedford Co., VA.
From 1754 -1763 Leonard was active in the VA conflict of the French/Indian War. He was in charge of monitoring Indians friendly to the British. (He was later given a large land grant of 2800 acres in KY for that service). He was certified as a Proven Patriot by the Daughters of the America Revolution (Ancestor # 049320).
1756-1777 Records of VA Colony Mentions of Leonard Hall were found in Bedford & Botetourt Counties.
14 Sep 1758 in Sven's VA Historical Index Leonard Hall is named in Hening's Statutes at Large, a collection of VA Laws, Vol. VII, p. 211. To Leonard Hall for conducting Indians; pd. 1 lb., 10 sh.

That is such a beautiful chart of Descendants of Leonard Hall that someone put on Wikitree. I was puzzled that only one son of his 12 children were listed. Of course, that means that I have not done my part. I cannot vouch for every single one of those children, but most names are familiar to me, since I have been studying the family for years. The one I can vouch for is my ancestor, William's younger sister, Naomi, who was b. 30 Apr 1772 in Bedford Co., VA. On 21 Apr 1804 she married Micajah Anderson Harlow (~1772-1844) in Barren Co., KY. Their children were all born in KY, but then they moved to MO. Many, if not all, lived in Lafayette Co., MO for a time.
I too had Jane Calvert as Leonard's mother, but now am not so sure. I mean that she perhaps had that name, but definitely was not the Jane Calvert who was daughter to Benedict Leonard Calvert, 4th Lord Baltimore of Maryland. In fact, it does not look like she ever left England. She married John Hyde (who did not die as early as American records suggest). They had several children together. There seems to be no evidence that she ever married a John Hall. I am trying to figure out from Maryland records who real parents of Leonard Hall might have been.
I am glad to see that a Profile has been started for Leonard Hall, one of my ancestors, too. He had a very interesting life. He is a Proven Patriot of the Daughters of the American Revolution, mainly for his service monitoring Indians in VA during the French-Indian War. He kept tabs of Indians who were friendly to the British. I plan to add more info to his bio soon.
