Gladys Lillian Georgeson was born in 1916 on a homestead farm near Avonlea, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the daughter of Otto Andersen and Christina Hansen.[1]
Her parents had emigrated from Denmark; she had five siblings and was the second oldest child and eldest daughter. Her father was also a Baptist minister. Gladys says of the farm "In the summer we lived in the main wood framed house and in the winter we lived in a sod shed built in the side of a hill. The main house seemed to me so large although it was just two rooms with a small upstairs. The hut was one room and was very warm and cosy."[2]
In the 1931 census Gladi (Gladys, age 14), Student, was the daughter of Otto Georgeson (age 53, truck driver, Imperial oil), and mother Kirstina (age 36), in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.
