Austin James Thaxter was born in 1916 in Uxbridge, Durham, Ontario, Canada to parents Albert Thaxter and Ada May Wagner Thaxter.
In the 1921 census, Austin (age 4) was living on his father Austin's (age 34) farm in Scott Township, Ontario North, Ontario.[1] [2]
In the 1931 census Austin Thayter (age 14), Farm Helper, was the son of Albert Thaxter (age 44, farmer/gen. farm), and Ada May (age 44), in Scott, Ontario, Ontario, Canada. He had six siblings, aged 6-20 years old.[3]
He met his future wife Gladys Georgeson at Lorne Park College. A few years later they were married in November 1941 in Uxbridge Ontario.
He was appointed as pastor in a Free Methodist church in Huntsville, Ontario in August. Later he served as pastor in Churches in Bracebridge, Cordova Mines, Victoria, West Toronto, Peterborough, Cardinal, Kingston and Renfrew Ontario. In 1943 they had a baby boy Lorne who died at birth. Later they had two more children; one is living.
They retired to Kingston in 1983 and Austin passed away in 1984.[4] He is buried with his wife Gladys in Sandhill + Battersea cemetery, Storrington twp., Frontenac, Ontario.[5]
