Biography

Mary Ewing was probably born about 1831 at Drummaul, County Antrim, Ireland. She was the daughter of John Ewing and Mary McKelvey.

Mary married Robert Agnew on 22 May 1851 at 2nd Presbyterian Church, Randalstown, Co. Antrim[1]. They probably had at least 10 children.

Mary's family were living at either Drumanaway or Muckleramer townland in Drummaul at the time of the 1862 Griffith's valuation but they appear to have moved to Ballydonnelly in Duneane parish by 1865 when their son Robert was born.

Mary's family moved to Bonhill, Dunbarton, Scotland in the 1880s.

In the 1891 Scotland census, Mary was age 60 living at Bonhill, Dunbarton with Robert Agnew (70), John Agnew (35), Margaret Agnew (25), Robert Agnew (23), Isab Agnew (21), Lizzie Agnew (19), Sarah Agnew (17)[2].

Mary's husband Robert died in 1898 at Bonhill, Dunbarton.

In the 1901 Scotland census, Mary was age 70 living at Bonhill, Dunbarton with John Agnew (40), Margaret Agnew (30), Lizzie Agnew (28), Robert Agnew (26)[3].

In the 1911 Scotland census, Mary was age 80 living at Bonhill, Dunbarton with John Agnew (59), Margaret Agnew (47), Elizabeth Agnew (37)[4].

Mary died in 1919 age 81? at Bonhill, Dunbarton[5].
