There is a family of an Archibald Fairbairn and Mary Dickson having children in Kelso, their children intersecting, but not clashing with the three sons recorded with mother Marion Dickson.

By dates, proximity of Kelso and Smailholm, and same husband's name, Marion is currently assumed to also be known as Mary.

Husband Archibald

It is unlikely that Marion/Mary Dickson's husband Archibald and the Archibald Fairbairn (abt.1735-) connecting the Fairbairn yDNA families are one and the same person.

There isn't any obvious room to fit child Archibald Fairbairn (abt.1760-aft.1800), in this Fairbairn/Dickson family given he himself was having a family from 1783, let alone a brother William Fairbairn (abt.1763-1809), even with all their only approximate birth dates.

Archibald and Mary's daughter Isabell baptized 1764 is of an age to be Isabel (Fairbairn) Oliver (1767-abt.1839).

Con:
