Archibald, if that is actually his name, is estimated to have been born some time around 1735, possibly on the Borders, either on the Scottish side, or Northumberland, England.
Research notes
?Archibald? has to exist as father of at least one of the linked children because of the pattern of FAIRBAIRN yDNA results.
The two Archibalds
At least two apparently contemporary Archibald Fairbairns exist.
An Isabel (Fairbairn) Oliver (1767-1839) found from autosomal DNA matches is also assumed to belong here as a daughter, having extensive matches to descendants of both of her 'brothers". Isabel may, or may not be, the Isabel baptized 1764 to the Archibald and Marion Dickson family.
There isn't really any room before, between, or after the existing children of the Kelso family of Archibald and Marion Dickson to squash in a father for the Archibald married to Crosser, whose children were from 1783, let alone also the William supposed father to William m. Wanless and John m. Williamson.
The y67 test for the documented descendant of Robert Fairbairn (abt.1729-aft.1771) could not be upgraded to BigY unfortunately, but is a good match at that level.
If you are, or know of, a direct male line descendant of Robert Fairbairn, please get in touch, we have a "test the water" starter yDNA y37 test on offer for you.Henderson-2297
Between the BigY timeframes, and the y67 exact match estimates from FTDNA a common ancestor born around 1700 is certainly in the right timeframes currently estimated.[1]

Growing clusters of matches exist between descendants of the children currently linked to this placeholder Fairbairn.

↑FTDNA timeframes: At a GD of 0 at y67 FTDNA indicates, with a 95% probability, that the probability the two share a common ancestor born between 1700 and 1950 CE. The most likely year is rounded to 1850 CE.
However, factor in that BigY matches between descendants of the common ancestor for one side of this match show the common haplogroup has an estimated formation of 1770 give or take, where the next branch back on the tree is estimated to have been formed about 1550, with an upper end range of around 1700.
