Biography

George Wilson Chisholm was born on 19 January 1839 in Dalkeith, Midlothian^[1], son of John Chisholm (1810–1882) and Isabella Wilson (1811–1888).

In 1860, G.W. Chisholm was a member of the 2nd Midlothian (Rifles) Royal Volunteer Regiment at Dalkeith^[9].

On 24 Aug 1869, George married Jane Henderson Bishop in Dalkeith^[10] and they had six children:

While in Dalkeith, George worked as a Tobacconist/Tobacco manufacturer. After moving to Coatbridge, he worked as a Confectioner and preserve maker. George was active in local politics and became President of Coatbridge Liberal Association and Chairman of North West Lanark Liberal Council. He was a member of Coatbridge Town Council,a Bailie of the burgh and a Justice of the Peace. Like other family members, he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and a Sabbath School teacher^[11]. After retiring, he moved to live in Glasgow.

George died on 25 October 1906, in Cathcart, Glasgow^[12].
