Biography

John Broomfield was born in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, England.

John was born in 1882.^[1] He was the son of Charles Broomfield and Lucy Stote.

The 1891 England and Wales Census shows John living with his parents, seven siblings and uncle in Emery Down, Lyndhurst, Hampshire, England.^[2] He was eight years old.

The 1901 England and Wales Census shows John living with his parents and five siblings in Emery Down, Lyndhurst, Hampshire, England.^[3] He was 18 years old and was working as a Garden Labourer.

In 1908 John married Alice Beatrice Cheeseman in Dartford, Kent, England.^[4] He was 25 years old.

John's father Charles passed away in 1908 in Fareham, Hampshire, England. He was 68 years old.

The 1911 England and Wales Census shows the couple and two children living in Kingston, Surrey, England,^[5] He was 28 years old.

John passed away on 22 July 1916 in Longueval, Somme, Picardie, France while serving as a Private in the 12th Battalion of the East Surrey Regiment and is buried at the Caterpillar Valley Cemetery in Longueval, Somme, Picardie, France.^[6]
