William Brims, son of Donald Brims and Catharine Cormack, was born about 1820 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 9 February 1820.[1]
In 1851 William was living in Kirks Lane, Wick, with his brothers Alexander and George, sister Mary, a lodger by the name of James Miller and a servant, a warehouse keeper called Heinrich Haub. William's trade was "auctioneer & master cabinet maker (employer of 8 men)".[2]
