Biography

Cornelius d'Arcy Brain was born on 11 May 1892 in Souris, Manitoba, Canada , son of Cornelius John Brain (~1863–~1928) and Florence Ada Rynd Thompson (1864–1928).[1][2]

He moved to England with his parent when he was about seven years old,[3] and on 17 December 1913 he married Eunice Thompson, daughter of Joseph Evans Thompson and Eunice Dyke, at Ruardean, Gloucestershire, England.[4][5][6]

They soon moved to New Zealand, where they raised their family:[7]

Neil worked in the milk industry. He owned an unsuccessful milk run for a number of years before becoming factory manager for a large ice cream company in Christchurch.[8]

Neil died on 28 July 1965 in Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand, aged about 73. He was buried in Ōamaru Lawn Cemetery, Ōamaru, Waitaki District, Otago.[1]
