Biography
Robert was born in 1845 in Scotland; to parents Alexander Bain and Mary Drummond. They were Presbyterians.
Robert married Elizabeth Leggett in 1882, and moved to Ireland with her. Together they had nine children: Mary, Annie, Isabella, Janet, William, George, Robert, Thomas, and Donald.
Robert originally worked as an estate manager in Gorey. When the family's youngest child, Donald, was born; the family lived in Hampshire, England.
In 1903, the family moved back to Ireland; this time in Maynooth, Kildare. It was here where Robert worked at the estate of the Duke of Leinster. Robert retired in 1908.
In 1913, Robert, Elizabeth, and all of the Bain children migrated to Canada in the province of Saskatchewan in Prince Albert; to follow and live close with the oldest child, Mary.
Robert and Elizabeth lived on a farm in the hamlet of Henribourg, a bit north of Prince Albert.
Robert passed away in 1926 at age 81. He is buried in Spruce Home, Saskatchewan.
