Biography

Mary Bailey was born in 1718/19, the daughter of Joseph Bailey and Abigail Webster.[1] She married Abraham Day in Newbury, in 1737/38.[2] Abraham was the brother of the John Day who had married Mary's first cousin Abigail Bailey (daughter of Deacon Richard) 7 years earlier.

Mary and Abraham lived near the old homestead of his father in the western part of Bradford, where their ten children were born:[3][4]

  8. Sarah, b. 12 June 1757; d. 14 June 1792 (unm.)
  9. Bailey, b. 26 Apr. 1760; m. Hannah Carleton, 5 May 1787 (dau. of Sarah (Bailey) Carleton), 5 May 1787; d. 28 Feb. 1825, and
  10. Moses, b. 27 May 1763; m. Martha Carleton (dau. of Sarah (Bailey) Carleton), int. 18 Oct. 1785; d. 26 Feb. 1796.

Mary passed away in 1780, at age 61.[5] She was buried in the Ancient Burying Ground of Bradford, where she would be joined by her husband 14 years later.[6][7]
