Birth (1819)

William was a son of Samuel Andrews and his wife Sarah. He was born on 2 Jan 1819 at St. Mary-le-Bone workhouse in Middlesex, London and baptised on 20 Jan at he nearby parish church.^[1]

Samuel and Sarah ANDREWS lived at the St. Mary-le-Bone workhouse in Middlesex, London from at least 1814 to 1832 and Henry and his sister Jane and younger brother William all grew-up in the harsh regime of the workhouse.

In June 1832, William's older sister Jane ANDREWS emigrated to Australia in search of a new start and a better life. The fate of the family remaining in Marylebone is unknown.
