what school did Martha and Marena go to

Hello!  Could you help me out by telling what kind of school you have in mind.  The sisters Martha Smith (whose given names I have found many variations of) and Hazel Smith (maybe also known as Marena) were born in the Eugene, Oregon area in the 1870s and moved to Spokane, Washington State as small children, before 1880 .  I presume they received their primary schooling in eastern Washington State. I know that Martha was married for the first time at age 18 but I don't have marriage info for Hazel.

Let me know what prompted you to ask the question and I can do some further digging.  Since I live in Washington State, I may be able to come up with a source.  These sisters, especially Martha, have proven elusive.  You can see by the profile that I was scratching my head over exactly how many times (3 or 4?) she was married and whether she went by Martha, Irene, Marena, Rena, or Bertha.  Hazel may have gone by Marena.

Hello!  I found in the 1900 Census in Ellensburg, Kittitas, Washington a Lenna M. Smith born Oct 1876 in Oregon, as a student at a normal (teacher training) school.  Her father was born in Illinois and her mother in Ohio.  The Smith sisters you asked about were the daughters of John Thomas Smith, born in Illinois, and Mary Emaline Mitchell, born in Iowa.  This could possibly be a younger sister of Martha and Hazel.

I merged Smith-156256 into Smith-154958 because, as I examined the profiles, it occurred to me that Caldwell was actually a mistake for Colwill.  The question inspired me to find the 1887 WA Territorial Census, and it's clear now that there were only four daughters in the family, not five.
