Samuel Beers was born 3 June 1833 at Newtown, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States, died 13 January 1913 at Cook County, Illinois, USA,[1] son of Simeon Nichols Beers (1801-1851) and Ann Eliza (McEwen) Beers (1811-1868); married 9 March 1857 to Emily Gray, born 16 April 1834 at Monroe, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA, died 14 Dec 1912 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA, daughter of Elisha Gray (1800–1850) and Sally B. (Scott) Gray (1802–1874); buried at Rosehill Cemetery and Mausoleum, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.[2]
Samuel Beers moved with his family from Newtown, Connecticut to Chicago, Illinois in the Fall of 1847, joining his brother Cyrenius, who moved there in the mid 1830's.
He fought in the American Civil War, Muster in Cairo, IL on 16 Jul 1861; discharged for disability 24 Mar, 1862.
