Research Notes
There is no marriage record available online for Johannes Zittel and Elisabetha Stempfel. The earliest Evangelical Lutheran church register for Cleebourg that is available online at the Bas-Rhin Archives begins in the year 1756. It covers baptisms and marriages from 1756-1780 and deaths from 1756-1779.
After searching through baptism, marriage and death entries in the Cleebourg Evangelical Lutheran church register for the years 1756-1780, it appears that Peter Zittel is the only child of this union that lived to adulthood and married. Williamson-4839 02:10, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Proof Summaries
Johannes Zittel's date of birth was calculated from age at death as listed on his death record [32 years, 3 months and 10 days from 9 April 1757] until his birth/baptism record was located. The age at death on the death record is off by one day.[2]
With the birth date of son, Peter Zittel, shown on his death record as 5 March 1752,[4] we can be fairly certain that his parents were married prior to 1752.
The death record of son, Peter lists his parents as Johannes Zittel and Elisabetha Stempfel.[4].
Elisabetha’s second marriage to Nicolaus Rothhaar in 1759 states that she is the widow of Johannes Zittel.[5]
