Ellen Wyche is a part of US Black heritage.

Ellen was born about 1880. She is the daughter of Peter Wyche. She was one of 16 children. Her family was enslaved by Billy Stevens of Upson County, Georgia. After the war, the family rented land from Kit Parker in Monroe County, Georgia.

Her father was part Indian and a free man of color until he was captured in Virginia, taken to Georgia and sold into slavery to the Wych family in Macon. He was cook at the Wych's "The Brown House" for years then sold to Billy Stevens in Upson County. Her parents were married by jumping the broom while at Billy Steven's plantation.[1]

In the 1880 census Ellen (age 0) was the daughter of Peter Wyche in District 557, Monroe, Georgia, United States.[2]
