John, I found a couple of researchers who appear to know what they're talking about re: John Whelden of South Carolina but who are keeping their sources close to their chest. I've emailed them for more details. I'm not insisting that there wasn't such a son; I just want to see decent evidence of it.

Hi John, thanks for the link to jiltrap etc re: John Whelden who settled in South Carolina. Unfortunately, that site cites no sources when it comes to the children of John Whelden-19, son of Gabriel. Do you have access to americanancestors.org? There's a TAG article vol 48 (1972) which names John2 (Gabriel1)'s children; no son John.

Hello everyone, I'm very happy to have found this site!

My family is from S.Carolina and have many relatives that were present in the US during the early 1600's. I am a member of the SC Historical Sociey, The New England Historic Genealogical Society and have plans on being inducted into SCV, SUVCW and the NSSAR. I will be adding citations and stories about our kin as time and availability permits, and I am willing to help all I can to expand our knowledge of our past generations. Thanks for having us!
