Frank was born in 1917, in New York, to Charles Wright and Ruth Jones[1]. He was the youngest of four children born to this couple. After graduating from high school, he was employed by Frank D. Tuttle of Scarsdale, New York. He entered the Tuskegee Air Pilot Program and completed his flight training in December 1943.[2]. He was deployed to Ramitelli Air Base in Italy as part of the 99th Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group.
On 31 Mar 1945, Lt Wright was on a straffing mission, flying his plane All in the Saddle with Munich as a target. Eye Witnesses saw his plane gion into a spin while he was in pursuit of the enemy.[3]. His plane was seen to crash east of Landshut, Germany. It was believed that eh attempted to execute a tight turn while in pursuit of the enemy and that his plane went into a tailspin which he could not control, due to his low altitude. HJs body was recovered, and he is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery in St. Avold, France.
