Biography

George Woollard came free to the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

George was born in 1848, and was baptised on March 9. He is the son of Harriett Woolard.^[1] George arrived in South Australia on the Aurora in April 1856. On the passenger list he is under the name Granger because his mother Harriet had married Mr George Granger. George Woolard's sister Charlotte was also with them, as well as 2 Granger children, Mary Ann and Emma.^[2] The family went to live on Kangaroo Island, where they settled at Cygnet River.

George Woollard married Emma Highet in 1868.^[3] He passed away in 1931.^[4]

"George Woolard, Snr, farmed at Cygnet River on Kangaroo Island in the 1870's and was also a provender, taking supplies out in his cutter to the sailing ships anchored in Nepean Bay. He moved with his young family to Brighton in the 1880s."^[5]
