Biography

Hannah Wood was born in Bradford, MA. in 1775, the daughter of Thomas Wood and Alice Bailey.^[1]

In 1797, Hannah married his first cousin Joseph Poor.^[2] Hannah's mother Alice Bailey was the sister of Joseph's mother Margaret. The couple settled on Joseph's father’s homestead at Rowley, MA (in the area which later became Georgetown, MA). Joseph and Hannah had three children, all recorded on the records of Rowley:

1. Joseph, b. 18 Apr. 1798; m. Lucinda Reed, 21 Jan. 1835; d. 4 Aug. 1865
2. Myra, b. 8 Mar. 1800; m. Samuel Thurlow; d. 7 June 1866, and
3. Sophia, b. 10 Aug. 1803; d. 23 June 1866 (unm.).

Hannah lost her husband in July of 1843 and passed away herself just 4 months later, at the age of 68.^[3] She was buried in Byfield Parish Cemetery.^[4]
