Biography

Emelline was born in 1848. She passed away in 1939. She was the daughter of Eli William Wolfe (abt.1820-1873) and Cynthia Ann Schooling (1811-abt.1864).

Birth: She was born on 13 February 1848 in Sarcoxie, Missouri. [1] [2]

Marriage: She married Francis Marion Clay (abt.1843-1902) on 27 May 1866 in Franklin County, Arkansas. [3] [4]

Children: They had eleven children, eight of which were still alive in 1900.

William Wesley Clay (1867-1943)
John Henry Clay (1869-1952)
Mattie F. Clay (abt.1873-)
L. Clay (abt.1875-)
S. Annie (Clay) Bowley (1878-1963)
Myrtle Lucinda Clay (1880-1976)
Mattie Ellen (Clay) Lords (1882-1966)
James Jackson Clay Sr. (1884-1950)
Marion Clay (1887-1893)
Joe Clay (1889-1893)
Newton Pierce Clay (1891-1972)

In about 1868, after the birth of their first son, the family moved to near Cairo, Illinois. [5] The next three children were born in Illinois and then they moved to Bell County, Texas. [6] [7]

Tragically Marion and Joe both died on the same day. They were playing along the river when a sand bar collapsed and trapped them, killing them both.

After her husband's death, she moved to San Angelo, Texas in 1904. [8] [9] [10] She then moved in with her daughter Myrtle some time before 1930 in Haileyville, Oklahoma. [11]

Death: She died on 26 March 1939 in Haileyville, Oklahoma.

Burial: She is buried in Oak Hill Memorial Park, McAlester, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. [12]
