Ann Wingfield was born circa 1749, in New Kent, Virginia, a daughter of John Wingfield and Mary Hudson. Ann first married Captain James Garland, Jr. a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, who lost his life while on active duty, in 1781. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their sons, David S. Garland, who married Jane Henry Meredith; Husdon Martin Garland, who married Elizabeth Philips; and James Parker Garland, who married Keturah "Kitty" Stone. [1]
