James was born February 26, 1919 in Sweetwater, Monroe, Tennessee, United States to the parents of Luther Wimberley and Bessie Rose (Atkins) Wimberly. They had eight (8) children together.[1]
In 1920, James was living in his parents home in Sweetwater, Monroe, Tennessee, United States and a big sister.[2]
In 1930, James still living in his parent's home in Sweetwater, Monroe, Tennessee, United States with four (4) new sisters.[3]
In 1940, James lived in his father's home with a step-mother and five (5) siblings and two (2) step-siblings.[4]
In 1957, James married Lizzie Lou Ridenour in Monroe, Tennessee, United States on August 29.[5]
They had two (2) children together.
James died at the age of eighty (80) in Sweetwater, Monroe County, Tennessee, USA[6] where he is buried in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park Sweetwater, Monroe County, Tennessee, USA.[7]
WIMBERLY, JAMES LEON - age 80, of Sweetwater, passed away Wednesday Nov. 17, 1999 at Sweetwater Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Wimberly was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Ridenour Wimberly; mother, Bessie Atkins Wimberly; father, Luther G. Wimberly; sister, Beulah Thompson; step-brother, Mansel Frazier; step-mother, Georgia Wimberly. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Tommy Hood of Sweetwater; son and daughter-in-law, Jessie and Linda Wimberly of Tellico Plains; grandsons, Rick Hood of Sweetwater, Travis Wimberly of Tellico Plains; sisters, Bessie Harness of Maryland, Gladys Evans of Oak Ridge, Midlred Browne of Arlington, Va., and Ada Mae Burke of Cleveland; half-brother, Gilbert Wimberly of Oneida; half-sister, Myrtle Gilbert of Powder Springs, Ga.; step-sister, Nanthia Fleming of Sweetwater; several nieces and nephews. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Myers officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park at 10:45 a.m. Friday for a 11 a.m. burial. Kyker Funeral Home in charge.
